About

I care about the moment when something finally feels right.

Hi, I'm Ady, a Digital Media and IT student at NAIT finishing up my diploma in Web Design and Development. I got into this field because I liked making things look good. Simple as that. But somewhere along the way, I realized what I actually love is the moment when something finally feels right: when the spacing clicks, the hierarchy makes sense, and the whole thing just works.

I'm drawn to the place where design and development meet. Most of my projects start in Figma and end in code, and that full-stack perspective from wireframe to live site shapes how I think about every decision in between.

Outside of school, I work at the Strathcona County Boys and Girls Club and at Rexall. Both put me in front of real people with real needs, which is a good reminder of what design is actually for.

When I'm not studying or working, I'm at the gym, out with friends, or deep into a good series or book. The best creative ideas come when you step away from the screen.

Currently looking for opportunities where I can contribute to a team that takes the craft seriously. Let's talk.

Peachy Blendz recipe website screenshot

Peachy Blendz: Recipe Website

Role: Designer and developer. Built the full multi-page site from scratch, covering content strategy, layout, responsive design, and deployment.

A multi-page recipe and lifestyle website built as part of a persona-based design exercise. I chose peaches as my topic, developed a user persona to guide content decisions, and built the full site from scratch covering the recipe, nutritional content, ingredient sourcing guide, and newsletter signup. Responsive, SEO-optimized, and deployed live on Netlify.

Persona-driven content strategy Multi-page HTML and CSS architecture Fully responsive across all screen sizes SEO-optimized structure and metadata

Learned: How to plan and build a content-rich site end to end, from information architecture through to live deployment. Real scope, real constraints.

Focus Photography Club: Responsive Website

Role: Full-stack designer. Led the project from UX research through Figma prototyping to semantic, accessible front-end code.

A fully responsive website for a student photography club, built from a Figma prototype using semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Focused on accessibility, mobile-first layout, and a clean editorial visual system that reflects the club's creative identity.

UX research and Figma prototype Semantic, accessible HTML structure Mobile-first responsive layout Consistent design system for type and colour

Learned: The full design-to-code pipeline and how every decision made in Figma has a consequence in the browser. The hardest part is keeping both honest.

JB Hi-Fi: Mobile UI Redesign

Role: UI designer. Redesigned the mobile shopping experience from audit through high-fidelity Figma screens.

A mobile UI redesign of the JB Hi-Fi retail experience. Audited the existing interface, identified usability problems, and designed high-fidelity screens in Figma focused on improving product browsing, cart flow, and checkout hierarchy for mobile users.

UX audit and heuristic analysis High-fidelity Figma screens Improved mobile navigation patterns Consistent component library

Learned: Mobile UI is about ruthless prioritization. Every element has to earn its space. What you remove matters as much as what you keep.

Figma Branding Identity

Personal Brand Identity: RM Monogram

Role: Brand designer. Developed the full identity system from concept through logo, colour palette, typography, and collateral.

A complete personal brand package built in Figma. Centres on an RM monogram that blends geometric structure with a pen-nib detail, communicating creativity, precision, and a design-forward identity. Delivered as a logo suite, business card, and presentation.

RM monogram with pen-nib detail Navy and steel blue colour palette Serif and sans-serif typography pairing Business card and brand collateral

Learned: Designing for yourself is harder than designing for a client. Every decision is personal, which forces you to be more deliberate and honest about what you stand for.

HTML CSS Typography
Doctor Who expressive typography webpage with space themed design

Doctor Who: Expressive Typography

Role: Designer and developer. Chose all typefaces, built the layout, and directed the visual tone from concept to live page.

A creative web typography project using expressive font pairings, spacing, and layout to evoke mood and narrative. The challenge was making type do the storytelling without leaning on imagery. Theme-driven visual hierarchy throughout.

Expressive font pairing and hierarchy Mood-driven layout and spacing Theme-consistent visual language Clean, semantic HTML structure

Learned: Typography is design. Font weight, spacing, and scale communicate emotion before anyone reads a word. Getting that right is harder and more rewarding than it looks.

Outside of code and design, I shoot on a Sony A6000, mostly places, things, and quiet moments.

Beyond the Screen

The habits and experiences outside of design shape how I think inside it.

Discipline at the Gym

I train consistently. That kind of long-term commitment, tracking progress, staying patient, and showing up when motivation is low, is a habit I carry directly into my work as a developer.

Always Improving

I am always looking for ways to get better, whether that means refining a workout routine, researching a career direction, or reworking a user interface. That drive keeps me from settling on good enough.

Game Nights and Social Time

I enjoy low-pressure social time like game nights with friends. They keep me balanced, remind me that not everything needs to be optimized, and honestly make me a better collaborator.

Travelling and New Perspectives

I have travelled to Mexico, the US, and the Philippines, and Japan is next on the list. Experiencing different cultures and environments makes me a more aware and empathetic designer.

Minimalist Style and Visual Taste

I pay attention to clean outfits, colour coordination, and how things look together. That instinct for visual balance and restraint carries directly into how I approach web design. Good taste translates across mediums.
